Last night I set myself the intention to avoid saying "no" for the next 24 hours. Without even concentrating on it all that hard, I found myself 24 hours later having avoided the word "no" as much as I could, considering I parent a toddler! And whilst my experience wasn't exactly like the movie "Yes Man" (which was partly my original intention for this challenge), today I gave myself permission to say "yes" to what I wanted to say yes to. Again, it was constrained by the fact I was at work for most of it…
My experience in the past day or so resulted in learning some important facts:
- Fact - there are other ways of saying "no" to people, especially toddlers, if you put your mind to it. Instead of answering a "yes/no" question with "no", I found myself offering an alternative choice.
- Fact - saying "yes" to your needs does make you feel rather empowered!
- Fact - a little indulgence doesn't go astray every now and again!!
This was actually a challenge I thought I would struggle to complete. Prooves once again that if you set an intention you are more likely to succeed!!
